Learning Outcomes
By completing the Certificate II in Automotive Servicing Technology (AUR20520), students will develop essential foundational skills and knowledge required to work safely and effectively in an automotive workshop environment. Students will learn to follow environmental and sustainability practices, apply workplace health and safety procedures, and use tools and equipment correctly in line with industry standards.
Through hands-on training, students will gain experience in identifying basic vehicle faults and performing routine servicing tasks across key automotive systems, including engines, brakes, cooling, steering, suspension, batteries, and driveline components. They will also develop the ability to inspect, test, and maintain systems such as fuel, transmission, and final drive assemblies.
In addition, students will build practical skills in selecting and using automotive materials, components, and measuring equipment, while strengthening their problem-solving abilities in diagnosing and servicing vehicles. This qualification prepares students for entry-level roles in the automotive industry or further study in automotive trades.

Entry Requirements
Eligibility for Subsidised Training:
- To be eligible for access to a subsidised training place in an approved course, a school student must meet the following criteria. They must be:
- An Australian or New Zealand citizen; OR
- A permanent Australian resident; OR
- An eligible visa holder (Check the Skills SA website for the full list of eligible visa subclasses).
- Reside in South Australia
Additional Criteria:
- Enrolled in Year 11, 12 or 13 and are 16 years of age or turning 16 years of age in the current year of that enrolment, and
- Are undertaking SACE or equivalent and,
- Have completed a preparatory VET pathway
- Upfront Assessment of Need (UAN) – checks eligibility and readiness
