Our White Card Course is delivered face-to-face over 1 day, giving you the legally mandatory safety knowledge required to enter and work on any construction site in Australia. Learn how to identify workplace hazards, apply basic risk control measures, follow WHS communication and reporting procedures, and use PPE correctly and safely.

Gain the mandatory safety knowledge required to legally enter and work on any construction site across Australia.
The White Card Course at Alliance College is a nationally recognised requirement for anyone entering or working in the Australian construction industry. Through interactive, scenario-based training, you’ll learn how to identify common workplace hazards, apply basic risk-control measures, and follow correct WHS consultation, communication and incident-reporting procedures — building the safety foundation every construction site expects from day one.
During this course, you will learn how to:
- Understand your legal rights and WHS responsibilities as a construction worker
- Identify common workplace hazards, including hazardous manual tasks, falls, confined spaces, noise and chemical risks
- Apply basic principles of risk management and harm-minimisation strategiesApply basic principles of risk management and harm-minimisation strategies
- Follow correct procedures for WHS consultation, communication and incident reporting
- Recognise safety signs, symbols and site-specific warnings
- Select and correctly fit personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Respond appropriately to incidents and emergencies on a construction site
- Prepare to enter a construction site with an understanding of safe work practices and site-specific induction requirements

White Card Course Eligibility & Enrolment
- There are no formal academic requirements to enrol in the White Card Course at Alliance College. However, all students must meet the following basic entry requirements:
- Be at least 14 years of age. Students under 18 may enrol with appropriate parental or guardian consent.
- Have basic written and spoken English skills to ensure they can actively participate in training and communicate with instructors.
- Provide valid photo ID on the day of training.
White Card Course Delivery
- The White Card Course at Alliance College is delivered as a single, full day of face-to-face training, conducted in person at one of our training locations:
- 1 full training day, combining theory and interactive, scenario-based learning
- Assessment completed on the day, with results confirmed shortly after

- Alliance College offers affordable, high-quality White Card training with a simple, upfront course fee of $120 for all students. This single payment covers the full day of training, assessment and your Statement of Attainment, with no additional hidden costs.

CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry
- 1.1. Identify and explain the basic roles, responsibilities and rights of duty holders under WHS legislation
- 1.2. Identify duty-of-care requirements relevant to construction work
- 1.3. Identify and explain safe work practices required on a construction site
- 2.1. Identify and discuss common construction hazards, including hazardous manual tasks, falls, confined spaces, noise and chemical risks
- 2.2. Identify measures for controlling identified hazards
- 2.3. Apply basic principles of risk management and harm minimisation on site
- 3.1. Identify and explain common safety signs and symbols used on construction sites
- 3.2. Identify the purpose and correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- 3.3. Demonstrate correct selection and fitting of common PPE used for construction work
- 4.1. Identify basic procedures for responding to incidents and emergencies, including fire safety equipment
- 4.2. Identify procedures for accessing first aid on site
- 4.3. Identify the roles of designated WHS personnel and reporting lines
- 4.4. Explain the purpose of job safety analyses (JSAs), safe work method statements (SWMS) and safety data sheets (SDS)
